CENTRE FOR DESIGN, R & D AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
Calamai e Agresti’s Centre for Design, R&D and Industrial Activities was formed in 2005, from Calamai-Agresti, an engineering research firm - offshoot of the original company,Calamai which has operated in the nearby town of Prato since 1986.
The firm is at present made up of 3 senior designers/systems analysts and 7 CAD designers.
The Centre has extensive proven experience in designing, often using solid models. It is expert in both traditional and computerized structural and functional calculations for structures, machinery, plant and systems. l l Calamai e Agresti carry out: lCreation, design and structural calculation for structures, machinery, plant, mechanical and thermofluid mechanical systems. lThe graphic printouts can include: solid models, calculations of finished elements, analysis , preparation of documents for tenders, technical specifications of systems and single components (for purchase), manufacturing procedures, assembly/disassembly procedures together with manuals, research and feasibility studies in mechanical and plant sectors, functional and structural calculations – traditional mode or on finished elements in various sectors of mechanics.
The company also has wide and detailed knowledge in the transport sector of : creation and design of rail and tram vehicles, excluding electronic systems (locomotives, coaches, trams, urban light rail systems, etc. ; design, including functional and structural calculations, of rail and tram bodies, turntables; design, with structural calculations, of rail and tram chassis; design of installation of pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic systems; design of train interiors; design of buses and trolleybuses; automotive chassis, including calculation checks; design of transport suspension systems, including functional and structural calculations; design of bus bodywork, including calculation checks; vehicle design, with assembly and installation instructions of systems and outfitting.
The company has also considerable expertise in: machinery and equipment for copper-working; strengtheners, croppers, packing and weighing machines; transport/handling systems for hose reels; servicing systems; various drawing systems for tubes; trimming and laminating systems; pickling, washing and drying systems; various kinds and sizes of robotized system for handling/transporting ingots, sheet metal, coils, reels, etc.; design of equipment for manufacturing and removal of shavings; welding, etc.; special transport systems; machinery risk analysis as per European and Italian regulations; preparation of technical documents for Conformity Declaration or certification of equipment, under EC law.
